The decision was mine to make. But, this time around, I made it suddenly; and I have never looked back since then.
Sometimes, in life we have to get to that point when we decide what’s best for our lives, and either go for it or continue to wallow in self-deceit.
Every so often, we may know what is right for our lives, but are too weak, concerned about the thoughts or feelings of others, that we decide to continue to suffer in silence.
I used to be that way. Pretend that everything is alright when in fact the reality is far from it.
I had people in my life that had no business being around me in the first place. But, I couldn’t bring myself to show them the door.
I was held back by fear and self-deceit, too concerned about how they and others around me would react.
But, in the midst of that undulating period of my life, I could see that they brought me no good. They only were more concerned with “how not well I was doing”, and I was too timid to stand up for myself.
However, all that changed one day. It changed when I decided to live my life for myself. It changed when I realized that I owed no man any explanation for the way and manner in which I decided to live my life.
It changed when I decided to speak up for myself. It changed when I decided to stand up for myself. And of course, it changed when I decided to do the right thing.
Since that decision of mine, I have had a happier, more fulfilling and joyous life!
You see, some people with strings attached to our lives are like garbage. They pollute the very meaning of our existence.
These people may make you question your principles, faith and the reasons you do the things you do.
If you continue to live your life as a ‘people-pleaser’, you may never experience the genuine feelings of joy and peace, some awesome fruits of the Spirit the Bible talked about in Galatians 5:22-23.
It is not about the multitude that has no value to add to your life, but about the solitude that brings you so much joy and peace of heart.
I have made living my life my call; by stepping away from people, places, things, habits, associations or relationships that do not serve to bring out the best in me.
Now it’s up to you. Would you make living your life your call, or would you give the power to someone or something else?
To your continued success. Cheers!!!
