You can still make this a ‘December’ to remember

It is almost the end of the year, and many of us are at that point where we may be taking stock of what we have achieved in 2017. For some, they may have an endless list of laudable achievements, while that may not exactly be the case with others. No matter the group you belong to, I want you to pause for a few seconds, inhale deeply and read through my next lines.

If you are fortunate enough to belong to the first group, I want you to know that you deserve every success that you have achieved this year; and you should be immensely proud of them. However, as the year gradually winds down, now is the time to begin to strategize for the new year. Now is the time to evaluate both your strong and weak points, and begin to make plans to do better. Aim for more, dream bigger, reach for the stars and never rest on your oars.

If for some reasons you think you belong to the second group, don’t beat yourself up. There is still time left to make an impact in 2017. The greatest disservice you can do to yourself, is to believe the lies that you can not achieve any more success in the remaining days and weeks of this year. Irrespective of the ‘seemingly‘ endless list of failures you may have listed, I want you to focus on doing these 4 things and make this a December to remember:

  1. Count your Blessings: As humans, we are quick to emphasize our failures, while failing to acknowledge the subtle blessings we enjoy everyday, and often overlook. During the next couple of days and weeks, take a look around you and begin to be thankful for the things you have probably taken for granted. Be thankful for family, friends, good health, life, and the fact that you can still make things happen for you. Always remember that, as long as there is life, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.
  2. Reevaluate your strategies: This is the time to begin to reevaluate every step you have taken this year towards achieving your goals, that didn’t seem to produce the desired results. This is the time to ask yourself those difficult, painstaking questions. You cannot expect to have a different result, if you continue to do things in the selfsame way. Be honest with yourself, and be ready to make changes where you identify them.
  3. Have an open mind: Stay positive. The year is not over yet. Remember, it is not over, until it is finally over. Anything can still happen in these remaining days/weeks of 2017. Don’t be fatigued at this point. Remain focused, and be ready to recognize and seize on any opportunity, once it presents itself. You do not want to be caught off guard, when that thing you have been waiting for all through the year, suddenly shows up at your door step.
  4. Aim for a better 2018: It’s a given, 2017 is almost over, and that is the more reason you should begin to aim for a better new year. Irrespective of the experiences of this year, aspire for something better in 2018. Don’t be overwhelmed by negativity. Inundate your mind with thoughts of success in the new year, and run away from everything that distracts you from achieving your desired dreams.

So, as we celebrate this holiday season, make up your mind to still make this a ‘December’to remember irrespective of what is going on around you, as we leap into 2018 with increased vigour to achieve our dreams!

To your continued success. Cheers!!!
